A Motivated Mind is a Disciplined Mind
Whenever you have always had a hard time getting or staying disciplined, you may have been troubled with a lack of motivation. Motivation and discipline generally go hand-in-hand because without motivation, it is almost inconceivable to become disciplined. Ironically, once you become disciplined you rarely need to be motivated to keep your life running smoothly.
Discipline is a willingness and commitment to do what requires to be done. Without discipline, our experiences would be in disorder. Believe about the affairs you execute on a day by day or weekly basis that are expected in order to assert your life the right way. Housekeeping, laundry, grocery store shopping, fueling and keeping up your vehicle, doing work, bathing, paying off bills, balancing the checkbook, catching some Z’s, and more are all called for activities. Without them, what would your life history look like?
If you already have a solid sense of discipline, you probably do these things without much thought. You recognize they must be performed, so you simply do them. Then again, whenever you lack discipline, you might notice yourself dillydallying and setting your responsibilities aside – which may produce a large mess whenever it’s performed too often.
Discipline is also called for once you are working toward a goal. Whenever you don’t finish the steps that will produce the final result you want, you will not fulfill your objective. Once you first set your goals, you could possess strong motivation which can help you acquire a lot of worthful momentum.
Nevertheless, deep-rooted habits and an undisciplined judgement could in time forbid you from demonstrating persistence; and without some kind of inner or outer motivation you are unlikely to acquire the discipline you require.
In order to break away this dead cycle and acquire a strong sense of self-control, you need to get and stay motivated! How can you do this? There are numerous ways, but here are some to begin with:
Concentrate on the benefits. With every task or chore you arrange, spend a couple of moments stressing the benefit you will experience by doing them. In order to become and stay motivated, it is essential to have some sort of payoff in mind. Even if your payoff will come at a later time, remind yourself how come this task or chore is a good thing.
See the big picture. Think back that this task is only one part of a bigger puzzle. It’s difficult to get exalted about scrubbing a toilet, until you foresee your total house clean and shining. By looking at the big picture, each small task will keep a value of grandness in your own mind.
Do it for the discipline. In order to acquire strong discipline, you’ll need to keep toning up your “discipline muscle” little by little. The only way to do this is by forcing yourself to do the things you have to do! While you finish each task related to your goal (or even your household chores) keep verifying that you are developing stronger and stronger discipline with each passing day. Sooner or later you’ll find yourself easily doing what needs to be done and it won’t be a battle anymore – because you’ll already be disciplined!
